Pop Wuj Scholarship Project

Picture
The Pop Wuj Scholarship Project works to combat the financial burdens Guatemalan families face in sending their children to school.  The scholarship donations help cover registration fees, transportation, school supplies, uniforms, and books.  Families whose children receive scholarships are required to remain involved with their children’s education in part by participating in monthly meetings lead by Carmen de Alvarado, the Social Projects Director at Pop Wuj.  Pop Wuj currently has over 100 students enrolled in the scholarship project.  Most Pop Wuj scholarships are just $160/year to send a child to school.

The Pop Wuj scholarship project includes primary, secondary, and a few university students from various communities in and around Quetzaltenango, including: Llano del Pinal, Xecaracoj, Xepache, Tierra Colorada, San Juan Ostuncalco, Xeabaj, Cantel, Sololá, San Carlos Sija, Momostenango, and the Costa Sur.

There are currently children on a waiting list to receive a scholarship.  If you would like to learn more about these specific children, please contact info@todos-juntos.org.

The Guatemalan school year and scholarship disbursements begin in January. Please note that the Foundation does not take any administrative fees out of the scholarship donations, so the full $160 reaches the students and their families.
